Herndon/Reston
​MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING

The Herndon Reston Hawks and TOP have formed a partnership to promote middle school wrestling in the Herndon/Reston area. This includes forming and managing new teams at Herndon as well as Langston Hughes Middle School.

Practices/Competitions
For the 2019-2020 season (beginning in November), Herndon and Langston Hughes will have their own teams but combine for practices at South Lakes High School. This consists of regular practices on Monday and Wednesday from 7:15-8:45 pm.

The middle school teams compete on weekends (usually Saturday) in TOP's Winter Wrestling Series. This is the premier youth wrestling league in the country. The wrestlers also compete in the TOP Championships near the end of the season. Other optional opportunities may be available throughout the season as well. 

Uniforms and Equipment
Uniforms consist of fight shorts and compression shirts (the latter is provided by the team). Required equipment is a headgear and wrestling shoes. We encourage you to purchase equipment at TOP in Sterling, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that offers gear at discounted prices. We will have special hours as the season approaches. Hours are always posted on this web site. 

Registration
To join this team, you will register with the Herndon Reston Wrestling Association (aka Herndon Hawks). Click here for more information about the club and then simply register for the Middle School Division.

TEAM KICKOFF/FREE TRIAL PRACTICE
SEPTEMBER 22 @ 7 pm

Herndon and Langston Hughes Middle School students are invited to a free "Discover Wrestling" trial practice at TOP on September 22 (7-8:30 pm).

Students can try the "world's oldest sport" and determine if they like wrestling, plus meet  future coaches and teammates. This is a fun and educational event, and students are encouraged to bring their friends. Parents are also encouraged to stay and watch. Click here for more information.
