TOP Takedown TOURNEY
This page explains the format for the TOP Takedown Tournament.
* The vast majority, if not all, wrestlers will obtain 3 matches. Some individuals may get 4 matches.
* Wrestlers are grouped by age/weight/experience (rookies together). We will have Round Robin or traditional brackets depending on how many wrestlers are in each group.
* Matches are 3 minutes long, consisting of two 90-second periods with a continuous clock. A short break occurs between periods.
* Wrestlers earn 2 points for a takedown. If the opponent is taken down to his/her back (and held long enough for back points), an additional bonus point is awarded. There are no pins.
* Wrestler with the most points wins, unless there is a technical fall (i.e., when a wrestler gets a 12 point lead, the match is stopped).
* Overtime is a 1 minute sudden victory period (i.e., first takedown wins). If still tied, wrestler who scored the first takedown in the match is the winner. If no points were scored, unfortunately, a 30-second "Ultimate Rideout" period must determine the winner. A coin flip will be used to determine who gets choice of top or bottom.
* Medals will be awarded to the top 3 placers in each weight class.
