SPRING PROGRAMS

The following programs were offered in past years. Due to COVID-19, we are unsure of the offerings for the spring of 2021 but will be making decisions soon.

TOP WRESTLING CLUB

The TOP Wrestling Club is an off-season club for high school and middle school wrestlers in Loudoun and Fairfax counties. The club is led by a staff of highly respected local high school coaches. Coaches from other teams are welcome to come to work with their wrestlers as well.

Practices are held Monday and Wednesdays from 5-6:45 pm at TOP. The team will attend several tournaments this spring, as well, and have numerous joint practices with other clubs in Northern Virginia.

Fees are $199 for the spring session, beginning on February 24 (7 pm start time just for the first week). Fees include a TOP WC shirt and a USA Wrestling membership (for registrants before March 12; afterwards, wrestlers must obtain their own USA cards). Participants who turn 18 prior to August 31, 2020 must complete SafeSport certification training to receive their USA wrestling card (if not done so already).
TOP DAWGS YOUTH CLUB

Top Dawgs Youth Club is for wrestlers in grades 1-5 and will practice 1x/week this spring. Practices will be on Monday evenings from 5:30-6:40 on Mat 5 at TOP (sand/stone mat in front corner of building). This is not an intense, overly serious club, however, coaches do expect wrestlers to pay attention, want to learn, and not just attend to play games (although there will be games). This club is appropriate for novice and new wrestlers.

Emphasis will be improving in fundamentals, learning new techniques, falling in love with the sport, and having fun in the off-season. The spring season runs from March 9 to May 11. Fees will be $149 for the entire spring session and covers USA Wrestling membership (for all who sign up before March 9; late registrants must purchase their own card).

TOP WRESTLING CLUB - GIRLS DIVISION

The TOP Wrestling Club is pleased to introduce a girls division that will hold practices on Wednesday nights starting March 4 from 5-6:45 pm in the Leidos Wrestling Room upstairs at TOP. These sessions are for middle and high school girls, regardless of experience level, and will focus on Freestyle.

Coach Aubrey Burkette-Erice will lead these practices. She was the Virginia Women's National Coach and coach of the Cadet/Junior National Women's team this past year and is also an assistant coach at Riverside High School.

Participants can register just for the female practices ($119) or pay full price ($199) and also attend Monday practices with the boys. Fees include USA Wrestling membership and a free shirt (late registrants, e.g., signups after March 11, must purchase their own card). Participants who turn 18 prior to August 31, 2020 must complete SafeSport certification training to receive their USA wrestling card (if not done so already).

ADULT WRESTLING OPTIONS

TOP now offers two options for adults (male or female) of all ages who want to train seriously or learn about wrestling for the first time.

Adult Beginner/Novice Sessions. On Wednesday nights (7-8:30 pm) from March 11-May 20, TOP's Tom Houck will lead sessions for former wrestlers looking to get on the mats again, as well as adults (18 or older) wanting to try to the sport for the first time. Technique will mainly focus on fundamentals, and sessions will include live wrestling (for those interested) or conditioning workouts ( for those who prefer not to wrestle live). Some members of the group will be preparing for the adult "Bald & Fat Classic" (which also includes a women's division) on May 16 at Top of the Podium. Fees for this program are $150, and participants must have a valid USA Wrestling membership. REGISTER HERE.

Batchka Zulkhuu Practices. All-American Batchka Zulkhuu has been leading adult practices on Friday and Sunday mornings for the past two years at TOP. This small group has intense practices and is geared for experienced wrestlers. For more information, contact Bathka directly. Participants must have a valid USA Wrestling membership.
