MERCER MS WRESTLING
Welcome to Mercer Wrestling!
Become part of history by joining the first ever wrestling team to represent our school during the 2016-2017 season! The season runs from November-February. This team is for students who attend Lunsford or Mercer middle schools. In the near future, we hope to field separate teams for Lunsford and Mercer, but for now, we are combining to ensure a large group of athletes.
There may be some wrestlers with experience on the team, but for the most part, our group will be comprised of brand new wrestlers. So it's a fantastic opportunity to join the "world's oldest sport" and determine if it's an activity you'll want to continue at Freedom or Champe high schools.
The new team will be led by coaches from the Dulles South Youth Sports and Freedom HS.
The team will practice two evenings a week in the Freedom High School wrestling room, beginning in mid-November. The season ends around the end of February.
Our team will compete in the new Middle School division of the super popular Dulles Duals. These exciting events are held at Top of the Podium on Saturdays throughout the season. Our new uniforms consist of fight shorts and compression shirts! We will compete as a team and expect most wrestlers to get 10-20 matches over the season. We also intend to participate in one or more meets at local high schools in conjunction with high school varsity matches.
Wrestlers have the option of competing more frequently during the season. The coaching staff will explain all such opportunities after the season begins.

We will compete as a team and expect most wrestlers to get 10-20 matches over the season. We also hope to participate in meets at local high schools in conjunction with high school varsity matches. Eventually, we hope every middle school in Leesburg will have its own team, but for now, we may combine some middle schools.
Wrestlers have the option of competing more frequently during the season. The Rangers compete in the Mason-Dixon Wrestling League and attend other events during the winter (separate fees may apply). The coaching staff will explain all such opportunities once the season begins.
The required equipment needed for wrestling is a headgear and wrestling shoes. If possible, we encourage you to purchase your equipment at TOP OF THE PODIUM Wrestling Center in Sterling. TOP is a local, 501(c)3 nonprofit and prices are usually lower than big box stores. Hours are limited, so email TOP before making the trip.
To register for this team, you must join a local youth wrestling club. We are proud to affiliate with Dulles South Youth Sports. Click here for more information about this club.
